Más Arte Más Acción generates interdisciplinary projects by working with artists and other professionals who explore challenging social and environmental issues, often involving people from communities silenced by lack of opportunity. Working with partners, funders and the media, the foundation stimulates cultural exchange and dialogue to strengthen contemporary arts practice in Colombia and beyond.

Our mission is to 'produce outstanding projects with artists, to investigate contemporary global concerns that motivate change'.
We focus the lens on today's global challenges including biodiversity loss, food production, the sustainability of exponential human population growth, urbanisation and human consumption.

Jonathan Colin

Jonathan Colin is an experienced contemporary visual arts manager. Graduating in Fine Art he went on to study arts administration at London's City University before working in the public art sector.

For fifteen years he directed two arts organisations in the UK, whilst working with Fernando Arias on numerous projects, including those in Colombia's remote Chocó region.

In 2009 he was contracted by Colombia's Ministry of Culture to curate and manage part of the Salon Regional and in 2010 the Salon Nacional, bringing him closer to the country's contemporary visual arts sector.

His interest in the environment, consumption and social exclusion strengthened through his experiences in Colombia. This encouraged him to set up Más Arte Más Acción, offering artists a platform to address these concerns.

Andres Velez

Andrés graduated from Fort Lauderdale's Institute of Art with a degree in Computer Animation and went on to study Cinematography at the University of Antioquia. He has worked independently for various producers and as an Executive Producer with the public relations agency Toro Mora Fischer América. He is currently a Partner of Buuu Production Studio in Bogotá.

Andrés has been a frequent visitor to Chocó over the past decade and it is here that he met members of Más Arte Más Acción in 2006.  His knowledge of the region has placed him in a unique position to work with the foundation and Chocó's communities. One of the greatest achievements over this time was the official nomination of Desde Adentro's for the New York Documentary Film Festival in 2011.

Her tenure as curator of the Collection of Latin American Art at Essex University, UECLAA (1999-2005) provided the unique opportunity to operate across Latin American countries beyond the national paradigms, a vantage point for professionals working outside Latin America.

From 2006 to 2011 she was curator of Public Programmes at Tate Modern where she devised encounters between international artists, theorists and the diverse audiences of the UK.

In 2009 she co-curated the 2nd Biennale of Thessaloniki in Greece ‘PRAXIS: Art in Times of Uncertainty’.

She works independently as a curator and consultant in Europe and Latin America and continues to contribute articles and essays to art publications and to participate in international conferences and symposia.
