Prince Claus Awards Ceremony 2011

19/02/2012

In This Is Not The End, a powerful video installation, dance and sound performance, Arias reveals his concerns for the fragility of the natural world and humanity. A celebration of life, it brings together two other recipients of Prince Claus support.

In 2010 Más Arte Más Acción nominated Colombian dancer Nemecio Berrio to participate in the African Diaspora workshop at Ecole des Sables in Senegal. Following this, Nemecio was invited to lead workshops with communities in Chocó and dancers at the University of Antioquia in Medellín, based on his experiences in Senegal.

The performance is a collaboration between the dancers Nemecio Berrio and Abdou M with Patrick Acogny, choreographer from Ecole de Sables. The Prince Claus Fund supported these exchanges and we are proud to have made this final work possible. It is a testimony to the value of cross cultural collaboration, helping to make dreams come true along the way.

THE SOCIAL DESIGN SITE

28/01/2012

MAS ARTE MAS ACCION HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN THE SOCIAL DESIGN SITE

SocialDesignSite.com is a non-profit organisation that aims to foster a discourse on social design through our international online platform and the organization of and participation in projects, exhibitions, conferences, lectures, etc.
1. The first purpose of SocialDesignSite is to create awareness on social design: We as individuals have social interactions everyday. We are not alone on a deserted island. We cannot not be social. Therefore we should be aware of the fact that we have the opportunity to choose our actions in everyday life. We have the choice between following the same habits, customs and lanes we did in the past or to change them. Every new day we could do things differently than we have done it before. For us this is social design, how do people organise their social life, how do we design our world?
2. As the topic social design is very elusive we are giving examples. SocialDesignSite is an exhibition for exemplary social design projects from a variety of fields. To give the broad topic some kind of a structure the projects are navigable by a list of pre-set keywords .
3. Our aim is also to interconnect the projects and their owners as well as general public. The objective is to establish a unique interactive platform on social design between all the actors interested on the topic. For that we want to organize real live events, lectures, exhibitions, conferences, or even online initiatives.

The Hannover Principles

30/11/-1

In 1992, designer and architect William McDonough and chemist Dr. Michael Braungart published The Hannover Principles: Design for Sustainability. Principles: Design for Sustainability. In 2002, they published Cradle to Cradle, encapsulating a journey of discovery about materials as biological or technical nutrients and their use periods and their evolution. They created a framework for quality assessment and innovation: the Cradle to Cradle certification system. In 2010, after 20 years of working with companies, they saw a need to scale up the transformation. They gifted a license to the certification system and methodology to the public through the creation of the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute™. The non-profit Institute is an agent of change through open source information.
