In 2014 Miguel Angel Rojas stayed at the Chocó Base. Whilst there, he thought of a new work about the latest spate of violence in the port city of Buenaventura. Entitled Beautiful Sea Port, he made a photograph of the decaying feet of a chicken, alluding to the horrors of Buenaventura’s ‘casas de pique’ (chopping houses) where the enemies of drug barons and cartels are dismembered and disposed of, leaving behind no trace.  The irony of the title, a beautiful Pacific port, as it once was, is now the most violent city in Colombia.
