A TOMA DEL MAMBO took place between the 9th and the 11th of February of 2018. 12 art collectives and cultural organizations called by the Aurelio collective and Más Arte Más Acción Foundation, whom took the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá with the intention of reactivate the museum place on the city and his relation with the artistic loca scenery.
To this event were summoned around 4000 assistants, lots of them people who doesn’t have a closer relationship to the artistic scene in Bogotá or who doesn’t assist frequently to museums or expositive. through workshops, installations, free and open concerts, the collectives attract attention of a wide range of public that found in the MAMBo a out of theirs traditional museum´s vision and one close to their cotidianity. The complementary differences between all the projects presented could make of this space for three days a place where the visitors could reflex on the quotidian and local through artistics practices close to the territories.
This compromise of each collective with theirs territories, artistic practices and communities show other way to construct art in the city. LA TOMA DEL MAMBO demonstrated that the museums produce and allow social network and life encounters.
LA TOMA DEL MAMBO is a winner project of the Red Galería Santa Fe scholarship of the Instituto Distrital de las Artes, IDARTES, developed by the Aurelio Collective and the Más Arte Más Acción foundation, with the support of the Museum od Modern Art, MAMBO.
