Architect Gregorio Maya was selected as the third and final fellow of the Rogelio Salmona Fellowship programme. In the framework of the Post-Conflict, he explored how the spatial configuration in Salmona’s public buildings affects movement and collective living. This was done with a view to a potential encounter for social reconciliation.
“I can conclude that any exploration that occurs during my stay here will be completely driven and shaped by events that happen here. In the end that is the power of the residencies. In that sense, I will probably limit my findings to personal learning rather than scalable elements applicable elsewhere. However, by constantly re-evaluating the lessons learned and continuing personally with the socio-spatial concerns, I hope to enrich not only the understanding of the capabilities of Salmona’s spaces, but also to nurture my own future projects with strong social ethics and spatial strategies.
Dates of residency in Chocó: from 26 August to 3 October.
This residency program at the Chocó Base is supported by the National Program for Cultural Coordination of MinCultura.
